A reader asked for the question:
fernus vs superman
This Flash Appreciation Day, we continue our winter sales with a cosmic battle. In the JLA: Trial by Fire storyline, Fernus the Burning Martian attempts to cause mass extinction on Earth and the Justice League of America has to stop him. In JLA (2003) #86, Fernus phases #superman through the JLA table and fights the League.
In our feat, Fernus kills several hundred White Martians in the Phantom Zone. Importantly, because the White Martians are at least Stellar-Level in Durability and Super Strength like Superman, Fernus performed a Galaxy-Level feat in Energy Projection.
These reasons explain that in the storyline Superman is unable to defeat Fernus who may exceed a Stellar-Level Super-Strength and is capable of conquering planets in the solar system. Thus, he would definitely need the help of the #justice-league in order to fight Fernus who is stronger than Darkseid and Doomsday-Level.
Perhaps, another version of Superman can match Fernus. In Superman: Our Worlds at War, the DC Universe faces Imperiex, a cosmic entity that seeks to hollow the universe and start a new one.
When the war seems critical, Superman sundips in the sun for an extended period of time. Hours later he emerges and the heroes and villains manage to defeat Imperiex though it is absorbed by #brainiac and Warworld.
With a giant size, the flaming Superman uses Steel’s Boom Tube generated by his Entropy Aegis armor to push Brainiac and Warworld through time and an instant after the Big Bang where Imperiex can hollow.
Considering time-travel requires an infinite amount of energy, Superman likely performed an Infinite-Level of Super-Strength. Definitely, OWAW Superman is more than a match for Fernus.
Hope this helps.
