We continue with the best-selling publishers and this October our showcase is DC Comics. With The Mightiest Punch! continuing, #aquaman has been voted in September as FICTIONAL in the Fictional Rating. With an impressive competition and fan-votes, Aquaman made it to the Top 10 DC Heroes and Women in the ranking competition and faced a contender for The Most Powerful Villain in Despero.
Since fans are joining the League of Heroes, we are inviting fans to collect key issues from The Mightiest Punch! Certainly, JLA (2005) #118 in the Crisis of Conscience storyline is a key issue for the following reasons:
- Despero battling members of the JLA.
- Behind The Scenes of the Floronic Man.
Let’s briefly discuss the issue:
After Identity Crisis, the JLA is conflicted over whether to mindwipe the memories of the Society of Super-Villains. Meanwhile, Despero attacks Martian Manhunter on the Watchtower. In a duel of telepaths, Aquaman steps in to help.
Geoff John’s and Allan Heinberg craft a JLA with moral controversy over mind control and abuse and I think the contrast between the JLA and the Society is clear. At the same time, I think the battle and the behind the scenes show just how much the JLA is manipulated mentally and emotionally. Perhaps, the creative team crafted a sci-fi thriller which works.
